Questions in January

DALL·E-generated image: wide digital composite image for a blog post about hypothetical scenarios and their consequences. The central element is a crystal ball or a forked path.

If poverty in America was treated like an invading Russian army, how much lethal aid would the poor receive to eliminate it?

If former President Donald Trump is elected president of the US again, Should current President Joe Biden flee the country as if it were Haiti? Should Vice President Kamala Harris leave?

If Trump was elected again—and given his thoughts about being cheated out of reelection in 2020—would he erase all recognition of Joe Biden’s alleged illegitimate presidency?

If Trump’s supporters wanted him to be President for life, would he consider the idea?

Iran — even after its 2020 missile strikes around  US military installations in response to the Trump-ordered assassination of General Qassem Soleimani — vowed that it has not yet completed its revenge. If Iran takes matters a step further and makes the former President disappear, would Biden take the US to a costly war? Would Biden wage war out of principle, regardless of his opinions about Trump? What will Americans think?

If the US cut off all military aid from Israel and left on its own in the Middle East, would Israel become more—or less—dangerous?

Have you noticed how Vice President Kamala Harris is treated like an unseen and silent child in a room full of grownups during discussions of who, other than Joe Biden, should be the next President?

Okay, the last one wasn’t a hypothetical question, but that it’s been on my mind for as long as Biden’s been President.

What will former US Ambassador Nikki Haley’s reward be for her transformation from Brown-skinned Indian to White American? Is such an extreme case of self-colonization respected among other White Americans?

Are President Biden’s older African American supporters — despite his “Genocide Joe” branding — driven by their own near-term existential concerns?

We may see a few of the answers this year … !
