Scene & Heard: “A New Day” by Vladimir Cetkar

“Sounds influenced by George Benson” was my commentary after hearing Jazz-Funk guitarist Vladimir Cetkar for the first time more than a dozen years ago.

Cetkar has excellent taste in influences, by the way. His high-energy Post-Disco “Ocean of Love” track from the 2007 OM Vibes, Vol. 1 compilation remains a pleaser, and I’ve kept an ear on him since. Cetkar also turned in several well-received albums like Going Home and Heavenly. Regarding the latter, check out the current asking price on Amazon. Yow.

Cetkar’s latest single, “A New Day”, which he composed and provided lead vocals, is supported by a music video that should prove to be a respite from the grim images of war that have taken over our phones and televisions lately. Shot in Ohrid, Macedonia, the visuals feature universal feel-good themes like family, friends, food, music, and other sources of joy. I like the call-and-response he enjoys with the horn section throughout this upbeat tune.
