RUSSIA’S 2008 RED LINE IS STILL A RED LINE

I thought you would be interesred in Russia’s 2008 prediction about the consequences of Ukraine becoming a NATO member. According to Wikileaks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov considered Ukraine joining NATO a military threat. Lavrov also said that the NATO move would split Ukraine in two, start a civil war, and force Russia to consider […]

UKRAINE: NOT ABOUT DEMOCRACY

Look, I’m not an obsessed conspiracy theorist who labors in a grandmother’s basement day and night until he can connect every news item to some American grand scheme for world domination. (Laughing) I’ll offer my previous post as partial evidence. Most people who meet me would say I’m a rational guy who likes to ask simple […]

UKRAINE, PIMPED-OUT, SHOT-UP AND LEFT TO BLEED

I’ve been telling you for a while that despite America’s, uh, polite meddling for regime change in the name of freedom, hardly anyone gives a rat’s butt-rape about Ukraine as a republic. Its geographic location, proximity to US rival Russia, as well as its possibility of being another source of consumers and low-cost laborers for […]

DON’T SLEEP ON THIS CHINA-RUSSIA GAS DEAL

Don’t let the mainstream media downplay the 30-year, USD 400 billion natural gas deal signed this week between Russia’s Gazprom and China’s CNPC. This is a big, friggin’ deal, and we may be witnessing the start of a long-term inflexion of how the game of international politics will be played and won. Or […]

AMERICA’S GIFT TO RUSSIAN GAS KINGS AND QUEENS

The logic is straightforward – NPR reports that the Ukraine government spends about 7.5 percent of the country’s GDP on gas through a subsidy to its citizens. Over 60 percent of Ukraine’s gas comes from Russia. Plus, Ukraine’s gas bill is overdue by more than USD 3 billion. Russia’s increases in the price of gas […]

UKRAINE CONFUSION

I won’t spend too much time writing about the military situation in Ukraine today, but as usual, I want to hit a few points that the mainstream media and American foreign policy critics seem to be silent about. First, we’re talking about UKRAINE, folks! By the turn of the century, Ukraine may not even exist […]

MY 29 PROBLEMS WITH OBAMA’S SYRIA SPEECH

You’ve heard President Obama present his case for military action against Syria by now. I was silent because – and this is probably a character flaw I need to address – I thought everyone can read between the lines and know that the speech was hogwash. I could be wrong in my assumption, […]

WHAT DO THE RUSSIANS THINK ABOUT SYRIA NOW?

Russian President Vladimir Putin said two interesting things during an interview with the Associated Press and a Russian television station about his support for embattled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The first item, which most of us have heard before, is that Putin finds the idea of Assad using chemical weapons to be “absurd” since Assad’s […]

POPCORN ALERT: SAUDIS ISSUE THREAT TO RUSSIA

Remembering what I wrote regarding Russia’s terrorism concerns during the 2014 Winter Olympic games they will host in Sochi, this article I read in As-Safir [CLICK FOR ENGLISH TRANSLATION] about Russian President Putin’s meeting with Saudi intelligence chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan is probably the most mind-blowing piece of news I read […]

THE SYRIAN PEOPLE – LOVED BUT NOT HEARD FROM

I have the occasional habit of speaking in parables and metaphors without explicitly stating what I want you to know. I won’t do that for this post about the expanding Syria civil war. This war is about damn-near everything else except for the will of Syrian people. This war is about […]
