The strong possibility that the US Justice Department will not pursue civil rights violation charges against Officer Darryl Wilson for shooting Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri may not bode well for the simmering temperaments in the area, but I always thought that focusing solely on Brown’s unfortunate death misses a much larger Federal investigation target.
It seems to me that Ferguson’s police department and municipal court have combined forces to create a criminal enterprise inclusive of racketeering and monetary shakedowns. This crime organization also deployed brute force to protect its cashflow and intimidate its victims. In this context, racial profiling has become an enabler to this apparent criminal activity.
Ferguson’s town leadership and City Council, in addition to the courts of Bel-Ridge and Florissant, could be either enablers or catalysts to this criminal enterprise.
You know by now that I have my complaints about Attorney General Holder, but I never thought the man was void of reasoning skills. Either Holder is pursuing the investigation I just described, or he’s seriously thinking about it…
