Fela Kuti’s music offers an outrageously large and flexible canvas for remixers to play with, and while I can’t verify that Stamp the Wax identified the absolute best five Fela remixes released to the world, you should trust that the joints they featured are too damn good.
I’m currently banging Ossie’s Bump Edit remix of Fela’s “Shakara,” which I embedded below. Stamp the Wax also featured remixes by Pete Rock & Ini, Tall Black Guy, Auntie Flow, and Ondatrópica. The timing works well since we just passed the 16th year of Fela’s transition.
